Tai Chi and Shalom

Note: This post is one of several articles written to expand upon what appears as stark statements in my recent book "Shalom Path:Journey of the Heart."

I suppose you’re wondering what Tai Chi has to do with an ancient Hebrew word. Maybe you are thinking, “Tai Chi? Isn’t that a Chinese dish or something?” Okay, so Tai Chi may sound like something way out in left field, but I ask you to not write me off, at least not just yet.  I hope to show you something I’m beginning to discover, that the Shalom Path has a connection to at least one Continue reading Tai Chi and Shalom

Curiousity does not kill the cat

Curiosity does not kill the cat;

about everything around it.

As A Man Thinks In His Heart, So Is He

Really, it’s all about selfishness, self-centredness.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “…for as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Okay, so I was all set to wax eloquent about how it’s important to balance rational thought with one’s emotions, love others as we love ourselves, and other Continue reading As A Man Thinks In His Heart, So Is He

Life in the Eternal Embrace

Note: This post is one of several articles written to expand upon what appears as stark statements in my recent book "Shalom Path:Journey of the Heart."

When you read the phrase, “Eternal Embrace” how do you feel? Stifled? Longing?  Content?  I suppose your reaction says a lot about where you are in your life journey.

Swallowed by the Blob

I spent enough time in my younger days, struggling to have enough space to breathe. Back then, the concept of an embrace meant suffocation.  I strongly Continue reading Life in the Eternal Embrace

Shalom Is More Than “Peace”

My book, Shalom Path: Journey of the Heartis based on the rich meanings behind the Hebrew word transliterated as “Shalom.” Since I am not a Hebrew scholar, I would welcome the insights and experiences of those of you who have a history of living with  this word. Please feel free to add your comments below. Continue reading Shalom Is More Than “Peace”

Before Nothing; Outside of Time; Wrap Your Head Around This!

If something exists before there is a nothing, it must be so completely “other” that it can’t even fall into the category of “something.”

Who/what existed before nothing was? It’s impossible to talk about the infinite, the immeasurable, the unfathomable…but, of course, people have been trying for eons and I, I must add my feeble attempt to the folly of the ages. I swiftly grasped that mere prose would not do the trick. I’m no poet, but these are the best words I could muster. Read at your own risk. PH

Attitude is a Choice

Your attitudes do not have to define you. When you choose your attitudes you make a powerful statement of who you are and what you stand for.

This is an article expanding on one of the phrases in my book, Shalom Path: Journey of the Heart.  In essence, I wrote:

I choose how I look at life.

Quick, now, respond to this question with the first thing that comes into your head:

Is the glass half empty or half full?
